Secondary schools open after the summer.
The secondary schools will fully open again after the summer holiday. The conditions are that schools take hygiene measures and that the coronavirus has not flared up before then. The cabinet announced this on Wednesday during the provisional final press conference.
Students do not have to keep one and a half meters distance from each other after the summer, but they do have to keep it from teachers. This was advised by the Outbreak Management Team (OMT) and the cabinet adopted it. This makes optimal use of the space in classrooms.
Secondary schools have been partly open for some time, so there is distance learning combined with physical lessons. In practice, this means students go to school about one day per week. This will change after the summer vacation.
It also applies to mbo’s, universities of applied sciences and universities that they can extend lesson times. This is because students can travel during rush hour again after July 1. However, the one and a half meter rule remains leading within these institutions.
