In the National Program Education (NPO), it is agreed that schools map out the effects of corona on their students' education. To involve parents, Ouders & Onderwijs has developed a conversation guide together with other organizations.

The NPO gives schools the chance to talk with parents about a suitable follow-up plan. This is based on the analysis of education during corona. To prepare the conversation well, Ouders & Onderwijs developed a conversation guide together with the organizations Samen Zijn Wij School and Voor Werkende Ouders. It contains example questions that you can discuss at home with your son or daughter.

Involve student and parents

The talks should make clear how the student is doing and what they need. It is important for schools to hear how the student and parents experienced distance learning. Also, what helps or motivates the student, if there are concerns, and if special support is needed. The social emotional aspect gets special attention here. Then, agreements can be made about everyone’s contribution to the student’s development.

Picture of the student

The corona crisis has had a big impact on students. Some students have fallen behind in learning or lost motivation. Others have grown a lot. With the National Program Education, schools get extra funds to handle the crisis effects. That is why it is mapped out what the student and school need to move forward.
