Face masks back in higher education.
Infections and hospital admissions are rising, but this does not lead to many new measures in education. Only in higher education (and also mbo) is the face mask back. Wearing it is mandatory in the walking routes and it may be removed once the student is seated in the lecture hall. The cabinet announced this Tuesday evening during the press conference.
‘We have a difficult message because we have to ask more from people. We struggle with that. The more waves of infections follow, the harder it is to stick to the rules. The stretch is gone. And yet we must keep doing this together. With a bit of kindness towards each other. If we are willing to compromise a little, we really do not have to agree all the time,’ said Prime Minister Rutte this evening.
Policy
The outgoing cabinet looked at introducing the corona pass at work and in higher education and mbo, but that will not happen soon. That the face mask is now mandatory again in that education sector fits the policy to be followed. In broad terms, it means that in publicly accessible indoor spaces a face mask must be worn unless a corona access pass must be shown there.
