What does education look like?

From friday 18 february

  • All outsiders, including parents, can come to school again;
  • The rules for maximum group size, cohorts, walking routes and staggered breaks will be lifted.

From friday 25 february

  • One and a half meters distance and face mask obligation at school will end. Mask in (student) transport remains;
  • Isolation period will be shortened to 5 days;
  • School trips are possible again.

For students in primary and secondary education, the quarantine rules are relaxed. Students without symptoms but who have been in contact with an infected person no longer need to quarantine. This also applies if other children or housemates tested positive for coronavirus.

Students with a runny nose or other corona symptoms do a self-test. If the test is positive, they go to the GGD test location and stay home. With a negative self test, you may go to school, but it is strongly advised to take a self test daily if you have symptoms.

From friday 25 february the isolation period is shortened to 5 days.

Both parents and students are welcome at mbo schools. In secondary education it is different. Adults are only welcome in secondary special education, Practical education track and at VMBO BB/KB. In other school types and levels, the student can participate independently in the activities organized by the school. It is important that the student wears a face mask when moving through the school. The school can also organize online activities. It is up to the school to decide.

From friday 18 february parents in secondary education are welcome again to visit open days.

Specific information for primary education

The physical lessons have all started again.

The following rules apply to primary schools, secondary schools and schools for special education:

  • Schools use walking routes in the hallway, spread breaks and try to avoid contacts between different classes. Pupils also come to school by themselves as much as possible.
  • Pupils in groups 6, 7 and 8 of primary school and pupils in secondary school wear face masks in the hallways, just like the teaching staff.
  • In addition, the basic measures still apply in primary and secondary schools. This means: adults keep 1.5 meters distance from each other (also teachers where possible), parents stay outside the school and meetings are online.

Pupils in primary and secondary education have relaxed quarantine rules. Pupils who have no symptoms but have been in contact with an infected person no longer have to quarantine. This also applies if other children or housemates tested positive for coronavirus.

Pupils with a runny nose or other corona symptoms do a self-test. If the test is positive, they go to the GGD test site and stay home. With a negative self-test, you may go to school, but the strong advice is to do a self-test daily if you have symptoms.

Definitely. Sports matches and activities may be organized again, also between classes and schools. Such an activity can take place with support from outsiders (if volunteers are needed to provide the educational activity). There is a face mask requirement and the mandatory 1.5 meter distance for volunteers moving through the school or external location. For (sports) activities, no corona entry passes are needed as long as: these take place on a school site and it is a closed educational activity. During sports, adults should keep as much distance as possible from pupils and gyms should be well ventilated.

Childcare

All childcare is open again from Monday 10 January.

Specific information for Tailored Education

For education, staff keep one and a half meters distance from colleagues, parents, and students. Masks are worn in the hallway and in rooms where a distance of one and a half meters cannot be kept. If students and staff are vaccinated, they do not need to take tests anymore. For unvaccinated students, the government advises using self-tests every two weeks.

Some students need help at school with toilet use, physical boundaries, or medical procedures. Physical contact is necessary here. These students can still come to school. For medical procedures, no extra protective equipment or conditions are needed other than those always required for these actions. Medical procedures can be done by school staff or external care staff. Sometimes parents provide (medical) care at school. In principle, parents are not welcome at school during this period. If parents are needed to help their child medically – because otherwise going to school would be difficult – the parent can be seen as a mobile caregiver (who is allowed to come to school for support with a single student). Good coordination with the school is necessary to avoid confusion.

Specific information for secondary education

Secondary schools are open again from Monday 10 January.

For primary schools, secondary schools and schools for special education the following rules apply:

  • Schools use walking routes in the hallway, spread breaks and try to avoid contact between different classes. Students also come to school by themselves as much as possible.
  • Students in grades 6, 7 and 8 of primary school and students in secondary education wear face masks in the hallway, as do the teaching staff.
  • In addition, basic measures still apply in primary and secondary schools. This means: adults keep 1.5 meters distance (teachers where possible too), parents stay outside the school and meetings are online.

There is a relaxation of quarantine rules for students in primary and secondary education. Students who have no symptoms but have been in contact with an infected person no longer have to quarantine. This also applies if other children or housemates tested positive for the coronavirus.

Students with a runny nose or other corona symptoms take a self-test. If the test is positive, they go to the GGD test site and stay home. With a negative self-test you can go to school, but the strong advice is to do a self-test daily if you have symptoms.

Definitely. Sports matches and activities can be organized again, also between classes and schools. Such an activity can take place with support from outsiders (if the use of volunteers is necessary to offer the education activity). There is a mask requirement and the compulsory 1.5 meter distance for volunteers moving through the school or the external location. For (sports) activities no corona access passes are needed as long as: it takes place at a school location and it is a closed education activity. During the sport adults should keep as much distance as possible from the students and gym halls should be well ventilated.

Many sectors are completely or almost completely closed due to the measures. It is probably not possible to do an internship here. If a student is doing an internship at a company that is still open during the tightened measures, the internship can continue. The company and the student must of course comply with the tightened general measures and any specific measures that apply to the sector.

Specific information for mbo schools

Universities, universities of applied sciences and mbo schools are open again for physical lessons.

A maximum of 75 people are allowed in one room. Students also keep one and a half meters distance from each other. They wear a face mask throughout the school building. Medical face masks are encouraged. Students do two preventive self-tests at home per week. If the test is positive, the person and the rest of the family go into quarantine and get tested at the GGD test site. If the test is negative, the student or teacher can go to school. This urgent testing advice applies to everyone, including vaccinated people.
