Information provision to School participation council parents about National Program Tailored Education Can Improve.
The government allocated 8.5 billion euros to the National Program Tailored Education for recovery and development after the corona period. In most cases, the School participation council of the school participates in the spending of these funds. Still, almost a third of parents do not have enough information to do this well. This is shown by research among School participation council parents via the Landelijk Ouderpanel.
Good collaboration with school
The collaboration between School participation councils and school is usually good. In most School participation councils (88%), the implementation of the National Program Tailored Education at the school was discussed. And 82% of the School participation councils were asked for agreement or have this on the agenda. Moreover, 57% of the School participation council members say their input is taken seriously. One in five School participation councils say they experience the collaboration as poor. These School participation council members say they are not involved, have to try too hard to receive a plan, or disagree with the school management.
Information provision
Of the parents in the School participation council, 30% need more information about the spending of the money for the National Program Tailored Education. There are guidelines, but these reach parents insufficiently. Extra training could be done via a website, a guideline, or following a webinar. The staff members in the School participation council are better informed. They know they have the right to agree on the implementation of the National Program Tailored Education and are familiar with one or more of the guidelines.
Staff involved more often than parents
Information provision to parents outside the School participation council can also improve. No less than 74% of the School participation councils did not involve parents outside the council in the process. While 90% of the staff was consulted.
About the survey
235 School participation council members participated in this survey: 154 parents, 69 staff members, and 12 students. They joined via the Landelijk Ouderpanel or the open questionnaire. Also see the complete report or other research and surveys within the Landelijk Ouderpanel.

The House of Representatives voted today for the national education program but wants some things different. Three points stand out for parents. The outgoing minister Slob will send the House a letter before the summer recess (July 9) about using extra funds from the national education program for homebound students.
