Relaxation of quarantine rules primary and secondary education.
For pupils in primary and secondary education, quarantine rules have been relaxed. Pupils without symptoms who were in contact with an infected person do not have to quarantine anymore. This rule starts on Wednesday and will last for at least three weeks. The cabinet announced this on Tuesday during the press conference.
Children without corona-related symptoms can therefore return to school from Wednesday. This also applies when other children or household members have tested positive for the coronavirus. This can also mean that pupils who currently must quarantine under the rules can return to school.
Confusion
The quarantine rules recently caused a lot of school absence. Due to rising corona infections, more schools had classes sent home. The cabinet wants this easing to help more children go to school.
Relief
The new policy is a relief for many parents. But of course, there are also many questions and worries. For example, about the risks children have of infection and what this means for children and parents with a vulnerable health. Ouders & Onderwijs has asked the Ministry of OCW to answer these important questions. We will share more when we know more.
