Share your thoughts: Bill free and safe education.
Until September 24, the online consultation for the bill Free and Safe Education is open. This proposal aims to improve safety at schools. Through this online consultation, you have the chance to share your view on bills before they become final. The government gathers ideas and insights from citizens and companies about bills.
Insight into unsafe situations
The bill says schools must do more to identify unsafe situations and reduce them. The trusted inspectors from the education inspection must be involved more often, now also required when sexual harassment is suspected. There will also be rules on how schools handle complaints. Every school must be connected to a national complaints committee, and the opinion of this committee will count more because the school governing body must follow the advice and recommendations.
Required external trusted person
A school governing body can only deviate from the advice for urgent reasons in the interest of the school. If the school governing body does not follow the advice, the complaints committee can report it to the education inspection after consulting the complainant. It will also be mandatory for schools to have both an internal and external trusted person.
The full bill can be read on this website. We invite everyone to respond. You can also share your feedback via vraag@oudersenonderwijs.nl. Ouders & Onderwijs will also respond to the bill and values the input and opinions of parents.
