More time for school advice.
Primary schools get more time for the school advice. The deadline shifts two weeks to 15 March 2022. The decision was made because the coronavirus crisis again makes it difficult this year for some schools to get a good view of the progress of pupils. This appears from the letter minister Wiersma sent to the House of Representatives.
Advising with good chances
Teachers are called to take a critical look again at the advice process. The idea is that teachers use the extra time to advise pupils from group 8 with doubt in a promising way.
But how does the school advice work again? We show it below.
How is the school advice formed?
When giving the school advice, the school looks at the development of your child especially in the last years of primary school. Most schools look at the (test) data from the student monitoring system, but also work attitude and private circumstances can influence the advice. The teachers know your child well and know what your child is good at and what things are harder. The school advice is part of the educational report (OKR).
Single or double school advice
The primary school can give a school advice for one or two school types. A single advice is for example a vmbo-kader or havo advice. A double advice is for example a vmbo/havo or havo/vwo advice. The primary school chooses which advice fits the child best. This can always be a single or a double advice.
Placement in secondary school
The secondary school bases placement on the school advice from the primary school. A school must for example place a pupil who gets havo advice at least at havo level. If the school has a vmbo-tl/havo class, a havo class, and a havo/vwo class, the school can decide itself in which of these 3 classes it places the pupil.
