No reason to panic about coronavirus.
There are more and more corona patients in the Netherlands. The question of whether measures are also needed in the Netherlands naturally exists in schools. What is the latest situation?
The RIVM indicates that children who are not ill can just go to school. Educational institutions must provide education. If a school or educational institution is not closed, the law applies. It is advised to report your child as sick with cold symptoms or a fever up to 38.0 degrees Celsius. Also after contact with a corona patient or after visiting an area where the coronavirus is active, it is requested to stay home.
Noord-Brabant
Specific advice applies to residents of the province Noord-Brabant. With symptoms of cold, cough, or fever, they are asked to limit social contacts. This means: do not go to school, work, or places where many people gather. If symptoms worsen, the advice is to contact the doctor.
Hygiene
Hygiene measures are very important for everyone to prevent spreading. You should wash your hands regularly, cough into your elbow, and blow your nose with paper tissues. People are also advised not to shake hands.
Research
Research by the General Association of School Leaders shows that in a quarter of schools, students stay home due to the virus. The protocols of the RIVM and the GGD are followed in 99 percent of schools. A majority of schools (83 percent) have taken measures against the corona virus, mainly by washing hands more (91 percent) and informing parents (87 percent). Half of the schools have stopped shaking hands and also provide information to students, for example, about coughing and sneezing. The General Association of School Leaders surveyed 1,100 school leaders about the virus.
