Schools close until 18 January.
Schools close from Wednesday until 18 January. It concerns both primary schools and secondary schools and universities. Childcare also closes. Exceptions are made for pupils who have to do exams, follow practical education track or special education. Exceptions also apply for children with parents in crucial professions and vulnerable children. This was announced by Prime Minister Rutte on Monday from the tower in The Hague.

Schools will close again. The measures start on Wednesday 16 December. Primary schools, secondary schools, mbo schools, hbo schools and universities all close until 18 January. During that period, education will be given digitally where possible. Like during the first lockdown, pupils get lessons remotely.
Exceptions for schools
There are exceptions for vulnerable children, pupils who follow the practical education track and exam students. Lessons will continue for them. Childcare also closes its doors. Children of parents in crucial professions can still use childcare.
The cabinet takes these drastic measures to sharply reduce the number of movements and contacts. The number of infections has risen rapidly recently and the pressure on healthcare is getting greater.
