Secondary schools open again.

Secondary education and schools for continued special education start partially again on June 2. The one-and-a-half-meter rule for staff and students is leading. The cabinet announced this on Tuesday.

Secondary schools partly open for all students and teaching partly takes place at school again. Even after 2 June there will still be distance learning, but this is combined with physical lessons. To keep one and a half meters distance, not all students will go to school at the same time. Agreements were also made about transport. To avoid unnecessary public transport use, students come to school on foot or by bike as much as possible.

At schools for secondary special education (VSO), tailored education is an important principle. There will be a protocol for student transport.

Primary schools fully open

Primary schools partially resumed lessons from 11 May. Primary schools will fully open from 8 June. There is a reservation. Schools will not fully open if research and new information show in the coming weeks that further opening is not wise.

Risk groups

Students who are sick, have health complaints or belong to risk groups stay home. Parents who do not want to send their children to school cannot be forced. In that case, there will be no enforcement of compulsory education.

New phase

After primary schools, special education schools and childcare, a new phase begins for secondary education. This involves risks. People will move more, and contacts will increase. It remains to be seen what the effect of these decisions will be.
