A whole series of corona measures at school end.
A large number of corona measures at school come to an end. Parents can be at school again and the rules for group size, cohorts, walking routes, and staggered breaks will be removed. This was announced by Minister Kuipers of Health on Tuesday evening during the press conference.
‘Young people must be able to spread their wings again. So everything will open again in steps,’ said the minister on Tuesday evening.
Below you can read which relaxations will apply in education.
From Friday 18 February
- All outsiders, including parents, are allowed at school again;
- The rules for maximum group size, cohorts, walking routes, and staggered breaks are removed.
- Isolation period is shortened to 5 days if you no longer have symptoms.
From Friday 25 February
- One and a half meter distance and mandatory face masks at school are removed;
- Face masks remain in (student) transport;
- School trips are possible again.
The relaxations apply at least until 15 March. Then a new evaluation will follow.
What stays?
The basic rules stay. That means washing hands, coughing and sneezing into the elbow, no handshaking, testing with symptoms, and staying home after a positive test. In addition, it is still strongly advised to do a preventive self-test twice a week for students from group 6 on primary school, in secondary school, mbo, and higher education.
Vulnerable health
Does a student or family member have a vulnerable health? The relaxations in education may raise the question for some students and their parents whether it is wise to go to school, because they (or a family member) have more risk of serious consequences from a corona infection. The Ministry of OCW announced that the earlier rules remain. School must therefore make good agreements with parents and student about how the student who stays home can continue to follow education from a distance as well as possible.
