Parent-friendly primary school al-ghazali.
Primary school Al-Ghazali in Rotterdam is nominated for the Ouders & Onderwijs award for the most parent-friendly school in the Netherlands. Read here why.
What makes Al-Ghazali parent-friendly?
Primary school Al-Ghazali stands out mainly because of the many ways parents can actively share their views at school. The jury especially values the equality in the cooperation with parents. The father evenings, where fathers meet, are also an original way to create extra contact and involvement.
What parents say about the school
Parents are very happy with the say they have at Al-Ghazali: ‘This is a school where you can be very involved as a parent’. In parent meetings, topics discussed are those important to parents and linked to lessons. There is also a focus group that actively thinks along about how to involve parents. Especially special are the annual partnership days, where parents discuss a theme with teachers using self-made statements. The feedback from parents is processed by the team when planning contact between school and parents. This creates a cooperation that makes both the team and parents happy.
Your opinion counts and they really act on it.
What Al-Ghazali says about parents
The school strongly believes in the power of cooperation between school and parents: ‘The joint premise is that parents and school need each other to build an environment in which students can grow and thrive.’ That is why the school is very happy with the active focus group of parents. As the school says: ‘Only by combining the vision of parents with that of the school team, a good base is created for a close and involved cooperation.’
