What makes the Goese Lyceum parent friendly?

Parents notice that both the management and the team find it important to work together with parents. There is much appreciation for the tailored education given to students in the form of extra support in the core subjects and how parents are involved. The jury notes that the school participation council is very proud of the school and the team.

Parents find the Goese Lyceum a nice school with very involved teachers and staff. They appreciate the good relationship between parents and school: ‘Teachers want the best for students and want to do that together with parents’. The school also involves the school participation council actively and is open to suggestions, input and improvements. This is clear from the prominent place the school participation council has in the newsletter.

What the Goese Lyceum says about parents

The school says involving parents is very important for the development of the student. Parents play a key role in supporting their child in three crucial learning areas: learning, learning to live, and learning to choose. As the Goese Lyceum says: ‘Good cooperation between school and parents helps a child grow not only in knowledge but also personally and socially’.

The Goese Lyceum is one of three schools that can win the award ‘Most parent friendly secondary school in the Netherlands’. The other secondary schools are the Eligant Lyceum in Zutphen and the Vathorst College in Amersfoort. Also, in the categories of primary education and special primary education, three schools can win our unique award: Al-Ghazali in Rotterdam, the Ontdekking in Maarheeze and the Schakel in Utrecht.

About the award

Ouders & Onderwijs is celebrating 10 years this year. To mark this anniversary, we will award the most parent-friendly schools in the Netherlands this autumn: one primary school and one secondary school. With this award, we want to draw positive attention to parent involvement and parent friendliness in education. And put parents and schools in the spotlight.
